Friday afternoon. Join Mark S. Williamson of the Primitive Percussion Youth Orchestra for an experimental, improvised music workshop using percussion, electronic and homemade instruments. Create some amazing sounds and learn about working together as a group. After the workshop, you will transport the equipment to the Glade stage for a live performance. For ages 7 to 14. No musical knowledge required. Bring a drink and a snack.
1 pm to 3 pm: improvising and rehearsing in the North Tower, Muncaster Castle.
4 pm to 4.30 pm: soundcheck at The Glade.
4.30 pm to 5 pm: live performance at The Glade.
Founded by Mark S. Williamson, the Primitive Percussion Youth Orchestra is a youth orchestra performing improvised and semi-improvised music using the stuff that lies around gathering dust in school music cupboards. The orchestra has found homes in the schools in which Mark has taught in his former role as a primary school music teacher, and in workshop form at arts centres and festivals. More information:
