About Fell

Fell is the ever-shifting psychedelic pop project of Blackpool-born songwriter and artist Nicolas Burrows, joined by bassist Jon Rulton, drummer Dav Shiel, and keyboard player Matt deKersaint Giraudeau. Emerging from the fertile Leeds DIY scene of the early 2000s, Burrows evolved from projects including Glaciers into Fell in 2016, crafting a distinctive world of homespun, dreamlike songwriting that drifts between woozy psych-pop, krautrock, lo-fi electronica, and pastoral folk horror. Across releases including There Still Are Mysteries, For The Pickling, Sides and Mallows Marsh, Fell have built a cult reputation for richly imaginative music filled with uncanny storytelling, melodic experimentation, and nostalgic atmosphere. Their 2025 collection Futility Rites gathers together a decade of scattered songs, demos, and singles into a kaleidoscopic journey through surreal daydreams, political unease, and playful DIY invention – released as the world’s first “vinyl-less vinyl” album in collaboration with Doughnut Music Lab and Lost Map Records.
